A Practical Guide on How To Survive The Superbowl:
It’s the end of January and your New Years Resolution to work out, eat better, and lose weight is actually happening. You’ve signed up for a gym membership (and got a heck of a deal), you’re drinking more water, less sodas, the pounds are shredding and you are feeling like a freakin’ rockstar. You are proud of yourself. And you should be.
Enter Super Bowl Sunday. The menu for your Super Bowl parlay doesn’t quite measure up to your resolution’s regime. But, what’s one cheat day, right? And slowly the down hill descent to what’s familiar begins.
Here’s the deal, if we are going to be honest, most people’s New Year’s Resolutions don’t survive the Super Bowl. It’s difficult to “get back on the horse” with an entire bag of potato chips, a six back of beer, and 2 hot dogs in your belly.
The goal of this article is to equip you with simple tweaks that will aid in your survival of the Super Bowl.
Hot dogs: If you’re cravin’ your favorite dog on Super Bowl Sunday, The Great Organic Beef Hot Dog is the way to go. What you want to watch out for here is salt and fat. These organic dogs contain HALF the fat of most other doggy dogs out there. Hot dogs are high in sodium, so be sure to limit your dogs per hour.
Chips: Most of us won’t be bustin’ our favorite kale chip recipe for Super Bowl Sunday. Instead of reaching for those greasy potato chips try a bag of Terra Chips (Original). These root vegetable chips have less sodium and are higher in fiber than other chips on the aisle. They are a little pricey, but worth the investment.
Beer: Ok, here’s the deal…football and beer go hand and hand, I know, I know. Bottom line: beer isn’t healthy. Sure, you can go for a low cal option and that’s better, but not best. If it’s the fizz you’re after LaCroix sparkling water is where it’s at. They have 9 different flavors that will keep your taste buds guessing.
Overall: Think moderation and you’ll be one step closer to making that New Year’s resolution a reality.
